Humble beginnings, since 1986

Clogged Syphon exists since 1986. As an idea. Back then it was the company we would never dream of letting ourselves hope that we could aspire to imagine starting it. Until we just did it, in 1989.
The company was supposed to be something else. Something new. Unheard of. Fresh meat for the jaws of reality. With products you’d never seen but always known. Familiar, yet strange.
The goal was simple. To profit from the popularity of skateboarding by manufacturing accessories for skateboarders. For amusement. And to be able to go on vacation to tropical islands with the money earned.
To prevent competition and conflict with other companies in the industry, we only developed products no one else was interested in, let alone investing in. Without shining examples of the business model, success proved hard to achieve.
Our first products – fingerless gloves labeled ‘Palm Gear’ – were launched in 1989. The first batch contained 800 pairs. Washable gloves with Invisible Kevlar Impact Absorbers. The target group: skateboarding enthusiasts who wanted to keep their hands warm and save during chilly sessions at night.
A pile of boxes full of gloves decorated the attic for years. In fact, it wasn’t until Apple came up with revolutionary touchscreen telephones in 2007, we finally got rid of them.
